Biography

Sophie Tosh is a New York City–based dancer, choreographer, and creative originally from Wales, Wisconsin. She recently earned her BFA in Dance from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts under the direction of Pam Pietro.

In 2023, Sophie was recognized as a YoungArts Winner in Choreography and was previously named a 2022 Honorable Mention Winner in Modern-Contemporary Dance. Expanding into the commercial dance sphere, she appeared as a contestant on Season 18 of So You Think You Can Dance and has assisted Talia Favia on DanceOne’s JUMP Tour and at Favia’s ATLAS Intensive. She currently works as a professional assistant on Derek Hough and Talia Favia’s Ovation Dance Convention Tour.

At Tisch, Sophie performed works by Kayla Farrish, Baye & Asa, Sophia Nappi, Dual Rivet, Doug Varone, and David Dorfman. Her additional performance credits include works by Christa Smutek presented at national festivals including WhiteWave SoloDuo Festival, CDCFest Orlando, Dumbo Dance Festival, Columbus Arts Festival, and Detroit Dance City Festival.

Sophie began her training under the direction of Christa Smutek before continuing her studies at several Wisconsin conservatories, including Milwaukee Ballet and Artistic Edge Dance Centre. She has also completed programs at Orsolina28, Flockworks Intensive, Complexions Contemporary Ballet Intensive, and the B12 Summer Festival, studying repertoire by Sol León, Paul Lightfoot, Chloé Albaret, Alice Klock, Florian Lochner, Pau Aran, Olivia Ancona, Dwight Roden, Tom English, and Evangelos Poulinas.

Beyond performance, Sophie is equally passionate about choreography. She has created competitive works for studios across Wisconsin, Michigan, and Colorado, in addition to presenting new works through NYU Tisch Dance Works and Tisch’s Second Avenue Dance Company.
